Introducing CCHU9056 Virtual Worlds, Real Bodies
learning the VR Way
In Virtual Worlds, Real Bodies, we look at how VR technologies change major disciplines and fields and see these changes with critical eyes. We evaluate the implications behind in a backdrop of our society and cultural trends. Through this survey of technological changes in different fields and actual implementation of ideas, students are the creators and assessors of what they can create, and develop the awareness through critical thinking skills and idea implementation skill in this course.

Your Gateway to a world of imagination and technology
Project to Shine
The main focus is creating and implementing. With 10 lectures to stimulate you, your ideas will be tested and implemented in a group project. This project shows what you have absorbed in the lectures, performed critical thinking and synthesize a proposal with issues and topics considered for your idea.
Video / Essay
To help find a direction in your project, we teach you the ways to use writing to think through different steps and logic to approach your topic. Either using written words or video images, we will equip you the tools to synthesize your thesis in your project so that it presents a sound and implementable argument.
Implementation and Presentation
We don't just want you to have great ideas, but practical methods to communicate your ideas to others; therefore we ask your group to manage your project timely and communicate with members of your group constructively. Since this is a humanity course in a science and technology setting, we care for implementations too, therefore effective project management is important.
Lecture and Contents
As this is a humanity course, we do not just care about the technological means of the virtual reality experience, we also concern about the implications, ethical issues, meaning and content of this technological tools, the lectures form part of the rich content and background for thinking about the created ideas, we urge your awareness in what you can create. Attending the lectures provide an avenue for you to develop your ideas with substances and meanings that you have thought through.
